Emmerdale fans point out blunder do your research | UK News

Emmerdale viewers are sure they’ve noticed a major blunder involving struggling vet Paddy Kirk.

As fans of the ITV cleaning soap will know, Paddy (Dominic Brunt) was charged by the police for perverting the course of justice following the homicide of Ray Walters (Joe Absolom) on New Year’s Day.

Drug vendor and human trafficker Ray was killed by Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) as he tried to stop him from hurting his son, Paddy, and Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle).

Paddy and Dylan then moved Ray’s physique from their home to shield Bear, who had been used for slave labor at the farm belonging to Ray and his evil mum, Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths).

Bear was later charged with the manslaughter of drug vendor Ray after strangling him to death. Despite it being self-defense, a guilty-feeling Bear confessed, main to his arrest and potential prison sentence.

This sparked a confession from Paddy and Dylan about their half in the homicide case, and both have been charged with perverting the course of justice.

Bear, Paddy, and Dylan are all hoping their legal circumstances might be dropped, given the torment and abuse Ray put their household through.

In a current episode, Paddy was shocked to obtain a letter confirming his court date. He told his spouse, Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley), “Babe, I think it’s from the court”, as he clutched the envelope before ripping it open. He added: “Ohh that’s sooner than I expected”, before confirming: “I’ve got a date for the trial, 4th of May”.

Dylan replied, “I can’t do this,” and Paddy replied, “There’s nothing to worry about, it’s going to be alright. This has to tell the courts exactly what happened. This is on Ray and Celia.”

Despite the uncertainty of Paddy’s future, some Emmerdale fans have been confused that he can be attending court on a national bank vacation.

Taking to TikTok, one fan shared a clip of Paddy’s scene and flagged that May 4 is a bank vacation Monday, when the court doesn’t sit.

They wrote: “Come on, ITV and Emmerdale – do your research a bit better. Unless I’m missing something, courts are still not running on Bank Holiday Mondays… Did you notice this?”

A second chimed in: “I do enjoy the soaps but sometimes they do silly things”, while another joked: “Even though it’s pre-recorded the ITV producers know that the 4th May is a bank holiday haha.”

“Soap operas like Emmerdale are famous for prioritising high-stakes drama over administrative accuracy”, penned one viewer as another mused: “I don’t think bank holidays exist in soap land.”

Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV and ITVX
