Escape to the Country’s newest episode, aired on Monday (March 31), witnessed a couple flip down every property instructed by the host, Sonali Shah, following an unexpected setback.

The BBC beloved programme featured Sonali guiding Sharon and Jeremy, a pair keen to transition from the concrete jungle of New York to the pastoral charms of Somerset, of their hunt for the excellent rural abode.

Communications skilled Sharon and finance knowledgeable Jeremy are exiting their comfortable one-bedroom flat on New York’s prestigious Fifth Avenue. After dedicating six years to online house-hunting, they’re lastly ready to cross the pond and pin down their dream English nation residence.

Speaking about the transfer, Jeremy defined: “We want to escape to the country because it is somewhat frenetic in the city, with a lot of sound of traffic and sirens and construction going on and we look forward to the quietude and the quality of life in the country, particularly in Somerset.

“We would very very like, as half of our retirement and our life in the nation, to become involved in the neighborhood and, of course, to bask in our passions, that are much less simple to take pleasure in in a crowded surroundings in New York City,” reports Somerset Live.

Armed with an impressive £1.3m budget, the couple wanted a grand period home featuring at least four bedrooms and a special space for Sharon’s artistic endeavours. An expansive garden and convenient access to Bristol and London were also essentials on their list.

They also hinted that a pool would be an idyllic addition. Sonali pulled out all the stops, arranging a slew of home viewings, but after an exhaustive week, it became apparent that none hit the mark for them, with the couple citing the stairs as a significant deterrent.

Jeremy expressed mixed feelings: “There is a combination of feelings since you’ve proven us an unbelievable selection of architectural kinds and historic intervals.”

Sharon weighed in: “I believe there are bits and items of every home that we actually appreciated.”

However, Jeremy conceded: “Personally, I do not suppose we’ll go back to see any of the homes. There have been one or two issues in every of them, sadly, that meant they have been a bit of a no-go. One of them is we would like to age in place, and so which means steep stairs are most likely a no-go.”

He further elaborated, “I do not need a sloped garden, however the good factor is we learnt that there is a large stock of totally different kinds of homes and delightful views.”
