Ex-FBI chief Comey issues fiery response to Trump | Political News

Former FBI Director James Comey said he expects the Trump administration to assault him once again, as he vowed to continue criticizing his former boss.
Comey spoke to MS Now on Monday, his first interview since being indicted for a second time. As he said he anticipated to be indicted for a third time, he promised that he wouldn’t stop airing his opinion about President Donald Trump and his administration.
“Donald Trump has a bottomless desire to gain revenge against those who criticized him,” Comey said. “And I’m not going to stop criticizing him, because I think that’s required if you care about America, and so it will just keep going.”
Comey was charged in a two-count indictment in late April with “knowingly and willfully” speaking a risk against Trump by posting an Instagram picture of seashells that had been organized to read “8647.”
Prosecutors allege the picture constituted a risk against Trump, the forty seventh U.S. president. Comey, however, has said he assumed the seashell association, which he says he discovered on a seashore, mirrored a political message — not a call to violence—and that he eliminated the post after seeing that some had been decoding it as a risk.

During his MS Now look, Comey said the Trump administration will doubtless continue to search prosecutors prepared to goal his perceived enemies, regardless of legal benefit.
“At the bottom of every barrel there are still apples, and so he will find someone to do what he wants to do,” Comey said. “They’ll continue working on it because that’s what the boss wants. I’m sure that if this case falls apart, they’ll come with something else.”
He added that he expects another case to be filed against him in the close to future, as he stays a prime goal of the administration.

“I’ve told my family, ‘This is only going to go away when this administration leaves office because Donald Trump is obsessed with me, and with others,'” he said. “He is not going to let it go.”
During an April 29 event at the White House, President Trump said his life could have been in danger as a result of Comey’s post.
“Well, if anybody knows anything about crime, they know 86, you know, it’s a mob term for kill them, you know. You ever see the movies? 86 them. The mobster says to one of his wonderful associates, 86 him. That means kill him. I think of it as a mob term,” Trump told reporters.
When asked again whether he thought his life was in danger because of the post, the president said it could have been.
“Probably. I don’t know. You know, based on what I’m seeing out there, yeah, the people like Comey have created tremendous danger, I think, for politicians and others. You know, Comey is a dirty cop. He’s a very dirty cop. He cheated on the elections,” he said.
Comey has been a major Trump foe for years, particularly as the former FBI Director investigated whether there had been Russian intervention into Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. Trump then fired Comey months into his first term, and has since sought retribution.
The case is the second brought by the Trump administration’s Justice Department against Comey. An earlier, unrelated prosecution accusing Comey of making a false statement to Congress was dismissed by a judge who concluded that the prosecutor who filed the case was illegally appointed.
Legal experts have questioned whether the Justice Department can meet the high legal standard of proving that Comey intended his Instagram post to be a threat. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche has said investigators have evidence beyond just the post itself. He has not elaborated.
