Famed NASCAR Driver eliminateed in North Carolina Plane

Famous NASCAR driver Greg Biffle and a number of members of his household had been killed in a aircraft crash at the Statesville Regional Airport in North Carolina.

In a post on Thursday on Facebook, Statesville Regional Airport confirmed an “aircraft incident” of a company jet at roughly 10:15 a.m. Warning: disturbing pictures.

The post read:

Iredell County and the City Of Statesville Emergency Response personnel are presently working the incident. Multiple businesses are responding, and Iredell County Emergency Communications (ECOM) is coordinating with on-scene personnel, including HazMat, EMS, Fire, Rescue, Emergency Management, the NC State Highway Patrol, and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The FAA arrived on scene at roughly 12:00 p.m. and will examine the incident.

The VIPER State Events Channel has been requested and is presently being activated. The Atlanta Air Traffic Control Center has also been notified.

This stays an lively incident. A short media briefing will probably be held at 12:30 p.m. at the entrance of the new Airport Terminal Building, situated at 238 Airport Road.

A short time later, a close good friend of Biffle, Cleetus McFarland (real identify Garrett Mitchell), shared the heartbreaking news that Biffle and his household had been on the aircraft. He said they had been on their means to go to McFarland.

Unfortunately, I can verify Greg Biffle, his spouse Cristina, and son Ryder had been on that aircraft… because they had been on their means to spend the afternoon with us. We are devastated. I’m so sorry to share this. I have no idea if his daughter was onboard.

Update:

The press convention referenced above was fairly transient. Officials merely confirmed that they responded to a crash at the Statesville Regional Airport this morning at around 10:15 AM. Airport Director John Ferguson confirmed that they obtained a report at that time of a company jet that crashed off the end of the runway. The FAA arrived on scene around 12:00 PM and has taken over the investigation. There was no data at that level as to the trigger.
