Fury vs Joshua fight date lined up with Gypsy | Boxing News

Tyson Fury will fight Anthony Joshua in the ‘late’ summer time of 2026 according to Frank Warren, if a deal between the 2 could be agreed. AJ has been on a collision course with the ‘Gypsy King’ for the bulk of his skilled boxing profession, with Fury seemingly pouring water on a fight ever coming to fruition in January when he announced his retirement from the game.

Off the back of consecutive losses to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024, the 37-year-old took to Instagram at the flip of the 12 months to add a video of him saying: “Hi everybody, I’m going to make this short and sweet. I’d like to announce my retirement from boxing, it’s been a blast. I’ve loved every single minute of it.”

He added: “I’m going to end with this; Dick Turpin wore a mask. God bless everybody, see you on the other side,” seemingly alluding to emotions that he was robbed during his second conflict with Usyk days before last Christmas, in which he was handed a unanimous resolution loss after 12 gruelling rounds.

However, it now seems as though a potential fight could also be on the horizon after all, doubtlessly coming as soon as next August. Fury’s promoter, Warren, told Sky Sports News: “There’s been some talks going on, there’s nothing been signed yet, but Tyson’s indicated if it’s the right deal, he’ll definitely do it.

“I believe it is going in the proper direction and hopefully we’ll get some news fairly soon as to what’s going to occur. I do imagine it is going to occur.”

It comes as Joshua is set to take on YouTuber-turned-pugilist Jake Paul in the early hours of Saturday, December 20, in a bout that will be broadcast worldwide via Netflix. However, the ‘Problem Child’ has also made a brash claim that he is eyeing up a bout with Fury in the near future, potentially derailing Joshua’s plans.

Speaking during a pre-fight press conference: “I’m placing a stint in all of those plans. Don’t guide something, do not prepare flights and inns. I’m knocking this man out, turning into the CEO of Matchroom Boxing and altering the plans. Then it is going to be me vs Tyson Fury next 12 months.”
