Iran blasts Trumps claim Tehran requested | Political News
An Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson said President Donald Trump’s Wednesday remarks claiming the Islamic Republic requested for a ceasefire are “false and baseless.”
In a Truth Social post on Wednesday, Trump claimed Iran’s new regime requested the U.S. for a ceasefire, which he said he would only take into account once the Strait of Hormuz is reopened.
The president also threatened to blast Iran “into oblivion” and “back to the Stone Ages” if his calls for usually are not met.
“Iran’s New Regime President, much less Radicalized and far more intelligent than his predecessors, has just asked the United States of America for a CEASEFIRE!” Trump claimed.
“We will consider when Hormuz Strait is open, free, and clear. Until then, we are blasting Iran into oblivion or, as they say, back to the Stone Ages!!! President DJT,” he wrote.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said Trump’s claims that the regime requested for a ceasefire are “false and baseless,” according to Iranian state TV.
Iran’s parliamentary Revolutionary Guard also issued a assertion saying the Strait of Hormuz “is firmly and decisively under the control” of its forces.
“This strait will not be opened to the enemies of this nation through the ridiculous spectacle by the president of the United States,” it added.
Iran, meanwhile, saved bombarding its Gulf neighbors on Wednesday amid Trump’s claims and threats.
Trump has also supplied shifting aims and repeatedly said the warfare could possibly be over soon, while also threatening to widen the battle. Thousands of further U.S. troops are presently being despatched to the Middle East, and hypothesis about their function has abounded.
Mere days in the past, Trump also threatened to bomb Iran’s Kharg Island oil export hub. And there has also been hypothesis about whether or not the U.S. may ship in navy forces to secure Iran’s uranium stockpile — a complicated and dangerous operation fraught with radiation and chemical risks, per consultants and former authorities officers.
Trump has been under growing strain to end the warfare as oil costs continue to skyrocket, pushing up the fee of gasoline, food and other items. The spot price of Brent crude, the worldwide normal, was up more than 40% since the start of the warfare and was trading at more than $103 per barrel on Wednesday.
A fifth of the world’s traded oil passes through the Strait of Hormuz in peacetime, and even if it had been to reopen shortly, some results — such as greater food costs — may persist for months or longer.
