Iran announced it had attacked American ships after the U.S. violated the phrases of their ceasefire in an obvious escalation of the continued battle.

Tasnim News, a local news company carefully related with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, reported that Iran had threatened a decisive blow on the U.S., deeming Americans as “terrorists.”

“Following hostile actions by American terrorists against Iranian tankers, our nation’s navy responded to violations of the ceasefire and American terrorism with fire from its own assaults,” the news company wrote, quoting the nation’s Foreign Military. It comes after Iran issued a warning that to Dubai that the ‘UAE pays’ after motion in Hormuz

“After a period of exchange of fire, the clashes have now stopped and the situation is calm,” the assertion continued. “However, if the Americans once again intend to enter the Persian Gulf or cause disturbances for Iranian vessels, they will receive a decisive response. Therefore, the possibility of renewed clashes of this kind in the region still exists.”

On Thursday, Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters argued that the U.S. was violating the ceasefire by sending troops and finishing up air strikes in civilian areas “in cooperation with some regional countries.”

“The American aggressor, terrorist and bandit army, violating the ceasefire, targeted an Iranian oil tanker,” the assertion said. Meanwhile, CENTCOM said that it “does not seek escalation but remains positioned and ready to protect American forces.”

The threats come as U.S. forces fired on and disabled two Iranian oil tankers on Friday after exchanging fire with Iranian forces in the Strait of Hormuz. The assaults solid more doubt on a tenuous month-old ceasefire that the U.S. has insisted is still in impact,

Iran has principally blocked the crucial waterway for global power since the U.S. and Israel launched the battle on Feb. 28, inflicting a global spike in fuel costs and rattling world markets. The U.S. has imposed its own blockade of Iran’s ports.

Trump threatens to resume strikes if deal is not reached

On Wednesday, Trump warned Iran that large-scale strikes could resume in Tehran if the Middle Eastern nation doesn’t “give what has been agreed to.” While he didn’t specify the half of the deal he was referring to, the president expressed want to shortly open the Strait of Hormuz.

“Assuming Iran agrees to give what has been agreed to, which is, perhaps, a big assumption, the already legendary Epic Fury will be at an end, and the highly effective Blockade will allow the Hormuz Strait to be OPEN TO ALL, including Iran,” Trump wrote on Wednesday morning.

“If they don’t agree, the bombing starts, and it will be, sadly, at a much higher level and intensity than it was before,” he added.

Reports of a deal come after Trump announced a determination to pause “Project Freedom,’ the administration’s efforts to escort ships through the Strait of Hormuz, to see whether an agreement could be reached with Tehran.

Trump said the decision to end the contested plan was based “on the request of Pakistan and other Countries, the super Military Success that we now have had during the Campaign against the Country of Iran and, moreover, the fact that Great Progress has been made toward a Complete and Final Agreement with Representatives of Iran.”

The White House has not commented on the state of the deal or how close it is to ending the war.

Interestingly, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Tuesday that the military operation in Iran was over, but he declined to answer whether the conflict as a whole was coming to an end.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, Rubio said that “Operation Epic Fury”—the joint U.S. and Israel attacks on Iran that started the war— is “concluded” because the objectives of the mission were all successfully concluded.

“We’re not cheering for an further state of affairs to happen,” he said. “We would like the trail of peace.” However, in order for that to happen, Rubio said Iran must agree to Trump’s demands on its nuclear program and to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
