Jack Nicklaus’ courtroom battles with his former business associate are over after he gained approval from a chapter court to buy back belongings from his former company.

The 20 Majors LLC, a household workplace set up by Nicklaus, obtained the inexperienced gentle from the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware on Monday to purchase the model and belongings of Nicklaus Companies for $35.7 million.

Nicklaus stepped back from his govt position with the company in 2017 and agreed to a five-year noncompete clause, but the legal battles with Howard P. Milstein, who managed the firm, began at the end of the settlement as the connection between the events soured.

In Monday’s verdict, Nicklaus waived in the area $57M in claims against Nicklaus Companies. He will obtain $1.2M as half of the sale, and he has regained control of the Jack Nicklaus and Golden Bear manufacturers.

Golf course design, development, and real estate management, though, should not half of the settlement, according to Bloomberg.

In return, Milstein, CEO of Emigrant Bank, and his company, PMP Nick LLC, agreed to waive $225M in security claims. PMP Nick’s $250M unsecured declare will still be allowed to proceed.

PMP Nick delivered a $145M money injection in 2007 as Golden Bear International turned Nicklaus Companies. Nicklaus managed the business until 2011, when Milstein took over. The loan swelled to virtually $500M as Nicklaus Companies couldn’t pay curiosity.

Representing Nicklaus Companies, David J. Cohen of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, said the court’s verdict “reunites the company’s trademarks and intellectual property with the Nicklaus family,” and “preserves the legacy of the brand.”

Nicklaus’ attorney, G. David Dean of Cole Schotz PC, added: “This sale marks the start of a new day for the company but also an end to four years of litigation between Mr. Nicklaus and Mr. Milstein, a result I think everyone is happy to see.”
