The bereaved spouse and children of the late James Van Der Beek are grappling with an “facing an uncertain future” following his passing.

The actor, best identified for his five-year stint as Dawson Leery in Dawson’s Creek, died on Wednesday at the age of 48 after a battle with colorectal cancer. Despite being identified in August 2023, he continued to work, that includes in the Amazon Prime sitcom Overcompensating among other programmes.

However, he has succumbed to the sickness, leaving his household facing “an incredibly difficult time”. A crowdfunding web page has been established in mild of the household’s “significant financial strain”.

Kimberly, who tied the knot with the actor in 2010, revealed James’ passing through a social media post. Alongside a {photograph} of the late star, she penned on Instagram:

“Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning.

“He met his closing days with braveness, religion, and grace. There is far to share concerning his needs, love for humanity and the sacredness of time.

“Those days will come. For now we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend.”

James, also identified for his function as FBI agent Elijah Mundo on CSI: Cyber, disclosed his diagnosis in November 2024. Discussing his condition, he acknowledged:

“The trickiest thing is there are so many unknowns with cancer. You think, ‘How do I fix this? Is this healing me? Is this hurting me? Is this working? Is it coming back?’ As someone who likes answers, not knowing is one of the hardest things. I have a lot to live for.”
