Joe Biden ignores Kamala Harris as lip reader | Political News

Former President Joe Biden and his former operating mate Kamala Harris got here face-to-face for the first time in months at Dick Cheney’s funeral. According to a lip studying skilled, the 2 shared an awkward greeting.

The two former leaders who once labored facet by facet have gone months without being in the same space. Today, they both attended the funeral of Former Vice President Dick Cheney, as Biden also celebrated his 83rd birthday. The pair shook arms and sat in the same pew, following a months-long rumor that they’d been at odds since Harris misplaced the election.

Lip-reading skilled Nicola Hickling told Daily Express US that the Former Vice President appeared to make the first transfer. She said, “When Joe and Jill Biden arrive, they settle into their seats and greet those around them. Kamala Harris catches Joe’s attention by reaching her arm out toward him, he looks slightly taken aback by the gesture before quickly leaning forward with a polite, ‘Oh hello, nice to see you, Kamala’.” It comes after Biden, 83, made a public look carrying a mysterious bandage on his head.

Back in September, Harris, who misplaced out on the presidency to Trump, launched a political memoir, documenting the triumphs and heartbreaks of her 107-day presidential marketing campaign. In the ebook, she spoke about Biden’s habits toward the end of her marketing campaign, which she felt was unfair.

Harris wrote that she was left feeling “angry and disappointed” when Biden called her hours before her presidential debate with Trump to let her know that highly effective associates in Philadelphia had been refusing to help her. She puzzled why Biden felt it crucial to inform her this before the controversy, which was one of the most pivotal moments of the presidential race. She said that Biden used the call to converse about his own debate against Trump, which was widely regarded as a catastrophe.

Harris wrote, “I just couldn’t understand why he would call me, right now, and make it all about himself. Distracting me with worry about hostile power-brokers in the biggest city of the most important state.”

She added that her husband, Doug Emhoff, “could see how angry and disappointed I was. ‘Let it go,’ he said. He knew I had to redirect my focus. ‘Don’t worry about him. You’re dealing with Trump. Let it go.’”

Harris has opened up about other difficult elements of her relationship with Biden in current months. In an interview with the BBC last month, she said, “I do reflect on whether I should have had a conversation with him, urging him not to run for re-election.”

For months, people have speculated that Biden’s reluctance to go away the race put Harris at a large drawback, straight contributing to Trump’s win. In her ebook, Harris wrote that Biden’s choice to run again was a alternative that mustn’t have “been left to an individual’s ego, an individual’s ambition.”

Harris also took purpose at Dr Jill Biden in her ebook, whom she also greeted today at the funeral. In the ebook, she famous how Dr Biden had cornered her husband Doug during July 4th festivities in 2024.

She said Dr Biden demanded to know whether or not Emhoff and Harris had been supporting Biden’s reelection, which enraged him.

“They hide you away for four years, give you impossible, sh** jobs, don’t correct the record when those tasks are mischaracterised, never fight back when you’re attacked, never praise your accomplishments, and now, finally, they want you out there on that balcony, standing right beside them?” Harris wrote, quoting Emhoff.

“Now, finally, they know you are an asset, and they need you to reassure the American people. And still, they have to ask if we’re loyal,” she added.

Today, Hickling analysed Harris’ interplay with the previous first girl, saying, “Jill steps in lightly and reassures her with a soft comment along the lines of, ‘He wasn’t ignoring you.’ Kamala responds with a small laugh and a pointed finger, saying something to the effect of, ‘I know he wasn’t. I was thinking you were going to look at me, but he didn’t.'”
