Karoline Leavitt reveals White House crack down on | Political News

The Department of Justice is launching a full investigation into the arrest of a conservative journalist in Portland, Oregon, on Thursday.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt spoke about the “extremely troubling incident” while addressing the media on Friday, claiming that Nick Sortor, 27, was “ambushed by Antifa.”

“But instead of arresting these violent mob members … who are ravaging this community, the police arrested a journalist who was there to document the chaos.”

Sortor, a conservative influencer, was arrested outdoors an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility.

He was arrested on suspicion of second-degree disorderly conduct along with two other people, said the Portland Police Bureau.

“This incident is part of a troubling trend in Portland, where left-wing mobs believe they get to decide who can visit and live in their city,” said Leavitt. “It’s not their city. It is the American people’s city, and President Trump is going to restore that.”

Leavitt claimed that she spoke to Donald Trump, who directed his staff within the White House “to begin reviewing aid that can potentially be cut in Portland.

“We is not going to fund states that enable anarchy.”

DON’T MISS…

Sortor’s arrest came after he shared videos of clashes outside the Portland ICE facility, which has been the site of anti-ICE protests as the Trump administration continues to crack down on immigrants.

“Hey (Portland Police): you made a big freaking mistake,” he wrote on X after his release. “You PROVED what we’ve all been saying for years: you’re CORRUPT and CONTROLLED by violent Antifa thugs who terrorize the streets.

“You thought arresting me would make me shut up and go away. You couldn’t have been more wrong. Stay tuned.” In a follow-up post, Sortor alluded that he may sue the police division.

Attorney General Pam Bondi has ordered a full investigation into what she calls a “wrongful arrest.” Texas Governor Greg Abbott also chimed in online, issuing a call to “free” Sortor, including that police ought to “arrest criminals, not journalists.”

“Maybe we just need to shut down Portland for good,” Abbott wrote.
