Kid Rock has been branded “white trash royalty” after describing Jay-Z as a “DEI hire” as he spoke out after performing during the Turning Point USA various Super Bowl Halftime Show.
The Detroit rocker, 55, starred in the show, which happened at the same time as Bad Bunny’s efficiency at the Super Bowl, on February 8.
But during an look on Fox News on Monday, February 9, Kid Rock hit out at Jay-Z, who is in charge of choosing the Super Bowl Halftime Show performer, by claiming that he was given the duty in an attempt to promote range, equity and inclusion (DEI) because he is Black.
In 2019, the NFL announced a partnership with Jay-Z’s leisure company, Roc Nation, which made it the league’s live music leisure strategist.
Hitting out at the 56-year-old rapper, whose real title is Shawn Corey Carter, Kid Rock told Fox News host Laura Ingraham, “Nothing against Jay-Z, I respect him for his hustle, you know, his music, but it seems like there’s a little bit of a DEI hire there going on to, you know, to kind of like, you know, oh … Black guys love Jay-Z – and of course, I’m not that ignorant, I know a lot of us love Jay-Z, not just Black guys.

“But in the league now we have this downside, it looks like, oh, we’ll convey him in and so – , Jay-Z isn’t gonna take that place of energy and that money, so then they convene, that was a not for revenue league until they quietly bought rid of that tax exempt standing at some level, so [NFL commissioner] Roger [Goddell] did not have to disclose his wage.”
Kid Rock, whose alternative show failed to draw in enough numbers to compete with Bad Bunny, also slammed his competitor’s performance at the Super Bowl as a “center finger to the MAGA crowd.”
He said of the NFL commissioner, “So he brings in Jay Z and what’s Jay Z going to do, he’s going to do proper by his base, that’s why he had Kendrick Lamar last 12 months, which a lot of people did not get, I respect Kendrick, but it wasn’t my cup of tea.
“And then this year it’s like wow, they’re going to double down and to me, it was another middle finger to conservatives, to the MAGA crowd, to my base.”
After Rock’s feedback have been shared on social media, however, many people hit out at him, with some accusing him of racism over his DEI comment.
A critic wrote on X, “I would say that Kid Rock was a privileged hire by TPUSA because he’s white trash minor royalty, especially given the fact that he had to pre-record a bad lip synch session, but I truly believe he was the most qualified person they could get.”
Another said, “Even if you don’t like Jay-Z’s style of music, you can’t deny he is more talented and more successful than Kid Rock. It ain’t even close. And it has nothing to do with DEI.”
A 3rd tweeted, “Anyone that is not white they think DEI. What racists….”
One more said, “The NFL and most of America could care less about what Kid Rock (aka Bob Ritchie) has to say about what the Super Bowl halftime show should be. Plus you have a white guy accusing a black guy of engaging in DEI hiring because of a Puerto Rican guy.”
I’d say that Kid Rock was a privileged rent by TPUSA because he’s white trash minor royalty, particularly given the fact that he had to pre-record a unhealthy lip synch session, but I actually consider he was the most certified individual they might get. https://t.co/o9ffavprEo
