King Charles’ goddaughter India Hicks reveals skin…

King Charles’ goddaughter, India Hicks, is opening up about her skin cancer diagnosis.

Hicks shared that despite wanting a peaceable week at home, “life, with its own mysterious choreography, shifted the plan.”

“The test results from a recent skin-cancer operation came back, and the news was…not great,” she continued. “Not dramatic-movie-scene not great, but just unsettlingly not great. The kind of news that makes the world blur slightly at the edges.”

The royal member explained that docs discovered “a worryingly fast-moving patch of cancer in my lower calf.”

“I reacted the way most people do: a strange mixture of calm practicality and a little private terror. You tell yourself you’re fine, you make tea, you answer emails, all while a small internal voice is whispering, ‘What if it’s worse than we think?’”

Hicks told readers she situated a doctor in Miami who may take away the cancerous skin.

“The procedure itself was only relatively uncomfortable. You sit there with an open incision in your leg while they whisk the tissue to the pathology lab. And then comes the hardest part: waiting,” the author recounted.

“You feel fine, you’re chatting, you’re scrolling your phone, and yet everything hinges on what’s happening in another room.”

Hick’s mom, Lady Pamela Hicks, was a lady-in-waiting to Queen Elizabeth, and first cousin of the late Prince Philip.

She stands as the oldest residing descendant of Queen Victoria at age 96.

At age 13, Hicks was a bridesmaid in then-Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s 1981 wedding ceremony.

In 2021, the British designer tied the knot with her longtime companion, David Flint Wood. The couple are dad and mom to 5 children: Felix, 28, Wesley, 27, Amory, 26, Conrad, 22, and Domino, 18.

Meanwhile, Hicks’ bout with cancer comes on the heels of both King Charles and Princess Kate being recognized with the disease.

While present process chemotherapy, the royal, who is mother to Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, with Prince William, stored a low profile.

In September 2024, Princess Kate announced she was cancer-free, and called it a “relief” the next January.

King Charles, 77, was recognized with cancer in February 2024 and has continued to bear treatment.

This past April, the king thanked “all those who support cancer patients and their loved ones” in a personal message.

He posted on the royal household’s web site that being “among” the “statistics” of those recognized with cancer has “reinforced” his view that “the darkest moments of illness can be illuminated by the greatest compassion.”
