Left-Wingers Staged a Protest Against Trumps D.C.

President Donald Trump’s determination to federalize the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) continues to trigger mass consternation on the left. Despite the transfer being unquestionably allowed under the Home Rule Act of 1973, which offers with the nation’s capital as a federal district, accusations of “fascism” and “democracy” being threatened have flowed like milk and honey. 

In other phrases, it is just another weekday.

How did we get right here? A sequence of high-profile murders and violent assaults caught the eye of the president. Instead of taking motion immediately, the administration requested the Democrat-laden metropolis council to repeal some of its ineffective, dangerous “social justice” insurance policies that had been letting criminals off the hook. Expectedly, they refused, and now, the implications of that have arrived. 

Because D.C. is the most liberal major metropolis in the nation (Kamala Harris gained 90 % of the vote in 2024), it was only a matter of time before the protests began. On Monday, indignant left-wingers took to the streets in Dupont Circle to march down Massachusetts Avenue.

“Trump must go now,” the banner reads, and he is certainly accomplished for now. I hear he is already tendered his resignation in the face of such an efficient gambit. The libs have accomplished it again. 

Seriously, though, if you already know something about that half of city, you already know that Northwest D.C. is where most of the white-bread NIMBYs live. It’s usually thought-about the “safest” quadrant of the town, though that’s a relative time period. That means the people less probably to be victims of violent crime are protesting against the president for making an attempt to stop violent crime in larger crime areas. Isn’t that good of them?

But at the very second they had been marching toward 14th Street NW to show their disdain for the orange man, one thing surprising occurred. Just a few blocks away in Logan Circle, a particular person was (presumably) murdered.

You cannot make this stuff up. Democrats staged a protest to demand Trump’s resignation over his push to make D.C. safer, and they could not even end their march before a homicide occurred proper next to them. I do not need to make gentle of that dynamic, given that a human being is useless (unless they revived the non-breathing particular person, and I have never seen any report of that). Still, the irony cannot be ignored. 

D.C. has a big downside, and all the manipulation of data in the world is not altering. It’s shameful that the town council and so many residents of the town appear to care more about opposing Trump than stopping people from being murdered.
