The lawsuit against Lizzo’s touring company, which was filed by former wardrobe assistant Asha Daniels in 2023, has formally been dismissed.

According to stories from People, Judge Aenlle-Rocha wrote in the movement that the plaintiff “did not identify any conduct” that would “display basic hostility to ladies in the office or disparate treatment of males and ladies.”

“This alleged conduct and these alleged incidents, while inappropriate and unprofessional, fall within the scope of what the Supreme Court has held to be outside the protection of Title VII, part of the ordinary tribulations of the workplace,” the choose wrote in his ruling.

The choose also dismissed Daniels’ racial bias claims, including the accusation that her boss, Amanda Nomura, had used racial slurs at work.

“There is no evidence to suggest Nomura ever spoke a racial slur or referred to any specific Black person or Black people generally using racially offensive language,” Aenlle-Rocha wrote.

Lizzo’s lawyer, Melissa Y. Glass of Singer Weinstein, Wolf & Jonelis LLP, launched a assertion to People about the court’s ruling, calling it “a total victory” not only for Lizzo, but for “other defendants named in Asha Daniels’ ludicrous lawsuit.”

“There was never any foundation for Ms. Daniels to sue Lizzo, her touring company, her tour supervisor or her wardrobe supervisor,” the assertion reads. “Indeed, the case against Lizzo was thrown out in December 2024. We are exploring all avenues to enforce our clients’ rights after this major win.”

Lizzo reacted to the news online, posting an Instagram Reel to handle the dismissal.

“Today I am relieved to announce that I have won the case against me and my company Big Grrrl Touring,” she wrote in her caption. “All the ridiculous claims by a wardrobe assistant who labored on tour for less than 3 weeks (including a declare they broke an acrylic nail) have been dismissed.

The singer went on to call the claims from the lawsuit “shocking because I was being sued by someone who admittedly never met me.”

“I prayed for the truth to come out, and thanks to my incredible lawyers, the truth has prevailed,” she continued. “The truth matters more to me than anything, and I told y’all I will not settle and will continue to fight until every vicious claim that has been made against me and my businesses.”

Daniels first filed her criticism against Lizzo and her Big Grrrl Touring company in September 2023. In her criticism, she alleged that they made racist and fat-phobic remarks and denied her medical care, main to anxiety and PTSD. She also claimed to have skilled a “culture of racism and bullying” while working on costumes during the European leg of Lizzo’s Special Tour.

Lizzo is still dealing with inappropriate harassment and assault lawsuits from three former backup dancers, Crystal Williams, Arianna Davis and Noelle Rodriguez, which had been filed in August 2023.
