Weeks before her sudden kidnapping, Nancy Guthrie shared some ominous words about her home in Tucson, Arizona.
The 84-year-old mom of Savannah Guthrie — who is reportedly contemplating quitting her function at the Today Show — was reported lacking from her home in Arizona since February 1. On February 13, an in a single day operation unfolded about two miles from Nancy’s Arizona home, when members of the Pima County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant.
Local authorities had been reportedly appearing on a tip in connection with the investigation of her disappearance. This comes as an ex-FBI agent revealed the hidden codeword that Savannah used in her message to the abductors.
Nancy’s most latest look on the Today Show happened in November 2025. Savannah, 54, revisited her hometown for a section on the NBC morning show.
Savannah was joined by her mom and her older sister, Annie, as they loved lunch at Mexican Restaurant, El Charro.

At first, the host said, “I love being home,” before asking her mom why she ultimately moved around and determined to keep in the Grand Canyon State.
The TV star said, “Mom, you guys came here in the ’70s. You had been moving all around. What made you want to stay in Tucson and plant your roots?”
Her mother described Tucson, “It’s so wonderful. The air. The quality of life. It’s laid back and gentle.
“I like to watch the havalinas and eat my plans,” she said before the mother/daughter duo burst into laughter.
Savannah added, “The best half about Tucson is coming home with you guys,” as she placed her hand on her mother’s shoulder.
The three repeated “Love you,” while raising their glasses high.
The host narrated the segment, “From the love of household to the acquainted magnificence of the surroundings, I’ll always be a daughter of the desert.
On February 7, Savannah and Annie had been joined by their other sibling — Camron — as they held palms in an Instagram video. The video was captioned, “Bring her home.”

Savannah addressed her mom’s potential kidnapper, “We received your message, and we understand. We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her. This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us, and we will pay.”
On February 10, she posted another video and requested the public for help in discovering her lacking mom. She expressed gratitude for the prayers and help directed toward her, her siblings, and their mom.
