President Donald Trump was seen strolling up the steps of the previous Air Force One “unusually quickly,” according to a reporter on the ground on Wednesday, after saying he wouldn’t take the shiny, new Qatari jet home.
Instead, the $400 million present from the Qatar Royal Family went to Royal Air Force Mildenhall in the U.Okay., where American troops had been ready to tour it. Trump tried to declare that he wished to use the previous airplane for “old times’ sake,” however, the real cause seems to be a lot more sinister.
Two former national security officers told MS NOW that those closest to him urged Trump to swap planes after questions had been raised about the new jet’s capacity to set up secure communications or army defenses required after he reignited the battle with Iran. Unlike the new airplane, the previous Air Force One has tried-and-tested command-and-control capabilities, a missile protection system, and the power to refuel midair.
The airplane can also be remodeled into a “flying situation room” that would enable Trump to obtain categorised intelligence briefings and give orders to army officers around the world. “This plane was built for aesthetics, not mission,” a former national security official explained of Trump’s new Qatari Boeing VC-25B, which was manufactured as a passenger jet in 2012.
“We know about its paint, its leather seats. But we don’t know its capabilities,” they added. The New York Times reported that the president boarded the old plane in a hurry, and media outlets were told to lower their window blinds before takeoff.

Trump answered the numerous questions, claiming that it was a security measure. “Because you’re, you know, probably on a dangerous flight, because of the sleazebags that we have to deal with,” he told members of the press.
A reporter then asked the president if he believed Iran was considering targeting him. Trump responded by saying that Iran was full of “sick people.”
“I mean if they ask you to close your windows, probably they feel that way,” the president said. MS NOW reported that an air force representative declined to comment on why the security measure was enacted, but added that there was no concern about the Qatari jet’s capabilities.
“The Air Force is confident the VC-25B Bridge Aircraft is safe, secure and equipped with the most advanced technologies necessary to meet the requirements of the presidential mission,” the spokesperson said. When another outlet reached out to the White House for remark, White House Communications Director Steven Cheung said that the airplane was advantageous.

“The new Air Force One is a state-of-the-art aircraft that has been fitted with high-level security protocols that ensure the safety of the president and his staff,” Cheung said in a assertion. “As the president has said just lately, there are many enemies of America who have their sights on him, and we use every software at our disposal — including distraction and misdirection — to handle those threats.”
Qatar’s gift reportedly received accelerated conversion within 10 months, with GWN commenting that the retrofitting prompted some experts to express “concern the airplane will not be as secure as the current Air Force One plane.”
