Paramount exec hit with $150 million lawsuit from | TV Shows

The president of Paramount Skydance is dealing with a lawsuit from a former FBI informant who alleges the chief owes him $150 million for breaching their settlement.

On Monday, March 9, R.J. Cipriani initiated legal proceedings alleging fraud and eight extra counts against Jeff Shell, asserting that the pair had reached an oral settlement under which Shell would develop a tv program in return for ‘disaster communications providers.’

Cipriani, a high-stakes skilled blackjack participant and former federal informant, maintains he leveraged his “unique media relationships and industry influence” to help suppress unfavorable publicity surrounding the chief, who departed NBC following an inappropriate relationship with a subordinate, reviews the Mirror US.

The legal submitting contends that he “took proactive steps to suppress, redirect, or neutralize” damaging coverage for an 18-month period in return for producing an English-language adaptation of the Spanish program Serenata De Las Estrellas (Star Serenade), but Shell failed to honor its “oral agreement.”

The criticism asserts, “This case arises from the oldest form of fraud: a powerful man took everything a less powerful man had to offer, promised to repay him, lied to him when he asked about it, and then refused to compensate him at all.”

The lawsuit, which identifies Shell and his spouse, Laura, as defendants, featured non-public messages that revealed the chief disclosing confidential particulars about the manufacturing company, including the Warner Bros. acquisition.

“We’re paying way too much for Warner Bros.,” Shell allegedly wrote to Cipriani. “If we could just wait another year, we could get it a whole lot cheaper.”

Cipriani additional alleges he furnished Shell with “ongoing threat-monitoring and intelligence services,” along with “sophisticated, high-value crisis communication services,” without compensation.

The former FBI informant purportedly threatened legal motion in February. During a contentious mediation session, Shell allegedly “refused to compensate” Cipriani and made clear he had no intention to “assist” the skilled gambler in “obtaining a television show or other entertainment industry opportunity.”

At that juncture, Shell’s attorney Patricia Glaser issued a assertion claiming the criticism was “riddled with clear errors of fact and law,” noting, “if he makes the mistake of going ahead with it, we will strongly respond.”
