Pentagon unveils $8.6 billion Boeing deal to arm | Political News

The Pentagon announced on Monday that Boeing (BA.N) was given an $8.6 billion contract for the F-15 Israel Program.

The deal comes after US President Donald Trump met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at Mar-a-Lago, the president’s personal membership in Florida.

“This contract provides for the design, integration, instrumentation, test, production, and delivery of 25 new F-15IA aircraft for the Israeli Air Force with an option for an additional 25 F-15IA aircraft,” the Pentagon said.

The contract entails international navy gross sales to Israel, the Pentagon said. The US has been the most important arms provider in the world and its closest Middle East ally.

It’s been roughly two years since Pro-Palestinian and anti-war protests erupted in the US, demanding an end to fund and present navy help for Israel, which has left catastrophic and irreversible harm on Gaza.

Contract work shall be in St. Louis,Missouri and shall be completeed by Dec. 31, 2035, the Pentagon said in a assertion.

After assembly with Trump, Netanyahu said he plans to award the US President with Israel’s highest civilian excellence honor which has “never been awarded to an Israeli.”

“President Trump has broken so many conventions to surprise people, so we decided to break a convention or create a new one,”the Israeli Prime Minister said. Trump averted answering clearly on how Israeli settlers in the West Bank could possibly be reversing the peace plan.

“We have had a…big discussion for a long time on the West Bank and I wouldn’t say we agree on the West Bank 100% but we’ll come to a conclusion,” the president said.

Trump also said he’s not involved with “what Israel is doing.” Israel reportedly killed tons of of Palestinians since the start of the ceasefire in October.

Trump made a dedication to Israel, saying it could back Israeli strikes on Iran, if the nation continues with its missile and nuclear weapon program. Iran’s Ali Shamkhani, an adviser to the supreme chief, Ali Khamenei, responded to Trump’s remarks, saying “any aggression will receive a strong, immediate response that goes beyond what the attacker expects,” according to the nation’s Nour News company.

He also told reporters that Hamas “will be given a very short period of time” to disarm and warned if it doesn’t occur, then other international locations who have backed the ceasefire plan “will go and wipe them out.”

Hamas has not made a public assertion about Trump’s remark at this time.
