The two victims of Monday’s deadly street site visitors collision involving Anthony Joshua in Nigeria have been named as Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami. Both were close pals of the former heavyweight champion, and served as members of his staff.

Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has confirmed the boxer is being handled in hospital and is in a secure condition. The accident, which occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, is at the moment under investigation by local police.

Dramatic video footage has emerged exhibiting Joshua in seen pain as he was rescued from the mangled wreckage of a Jeep following a deadly collision with a truck in Nigeria. The British boxer was travelling in the back seat at the time of the crash.

Sina Ghami

Sina Ghami served as Joshua’s strength and conditioning coach for over a decade. He is also the co-founder of Evolve Gym in London.

According to the fitness center’s web site, Ghami is a licensed sports activities and exercise rehabilitator who specialises in musculoskeletal accidents and corrective exercise. His spectacular resume consists of working with athletes from the National Football League (NFL), National Basketball Association (NBA) and Michigan State University soccer staff.

Latif “Latz” Ayodele

Latif “Latz” Ayodele was Joshua’s personal coach. His ardour for the fitness center is clear on his social media pages, as is his dedication to Islam.

Originally, Kevin Ayodele, Latif performed soccer for Aylesbury, but transformed to Islam and went by the identify Abdul Latif – AKA Latz. “Finding Islam in 2012 has been my biggest blessing,” he wrote in a pinned post from 2020.

An announcement from Matchroom Boxing, Anthony Joshua’s promoter, said: “Anthony Joshua was involved in a road traffic accident in Lagos, Nigeria, earlier today.

“With profound unhappiness it has been confirmed that two close pals and staff members Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele have tragically handed away. Matchroom Boxing and 258 BXG can verify that Anthony sustained accidents in the accident and was taken to hospital for checks and treatment. He is in a secure condition and will stay there for statement.

“Our deepest condolences and prayers are with the families and friends of all those affected – and we ask that their privacy is respected at this incredibly difficult time. No further comment will be made at this time.”
