During a latest golf match at the Dye Preserve Golf Club in Florida, Phil Mickelson was left speechless by Dustin Johnson’s astonishing school story.

The LIV Golf duo had just skilled a disappointing PGA Championship, where Scottie Scheffler emerged victorious, while Mickelson and Johnson failed to make the cut at Quail Hollow, with scores of 9 and 12 over par, respectively.

However, Johnson shocked Mickelson earlier this yr with an unbelievable story from his school days at Coastal Carolina University. The story surfaced during a 2v2 match, where Johnson and his brother Austin competed against Mickelson and in style YouTuber Grant Horvat, which was later shared on Horvat’s channel with 1.2 million subscribers.

On the sixth gap, Johnson dropped a bombshell, claiming that during his time at Coastal Carolina, he achieved an extraordinary feat. “We were playing at Spring Valley in Columbia, we were on our way to conference championships, we stopped to play a round,” Johnson recalled.

“And the second hole was a par 5, I holed it with a 6-iron. Third hole, par 3, it was like 225, 5-iron, it’s going right at it. Of course, I just made double eagle so there’s no way it’s going in. IN. Double eagle, hole-in-one back-to-back.”

Johnson’s exceptional story left Mickelson in awe, showcasing the spectacular golf abilities he displayed during his school years. Horvat might only reply in disbelief, exclaiming “No way” with the YouTuber including, “That’s about as rare as it gets.”

Mickelson, on the opposite hand, was left speechless, staring at Johnson and uttering, “No way. I’ve never heard of that.”

Considering Mickelson’s spectacular profession, which incorporates 47 hole-in-ones, 45 PGA Tour victories, six main championships, three of that are Masters titles, Johnson’s accomplishment leaving the 54 yr outdated astounded is kind of telling.

Mickelson retorted: “I’d send one because I knew he just couldn’t stand it so he was gonna come out of his shoes. And then he starts hitting them like this [all over the place].”

He added: “But DJ is a smart, cunning individual. He just plays it off better than anyone else.”
