Prep discuss: The Shaws enjoy a memorable basketball | College News
Sometimes it may be tough when a high faculty coach also has his son on the group, but then there are those unforgettable moments that make every second spent together magical. Such a second occurred on Friday night time for Oak Park basketball coach Aaron Shaw and his son, sophomore guard Grant Shaw.
Grant made a three-pointer from past the top of the key as the buzzer sounded to give host Oak Park a 54-51 win over rival Agoura.
Then, for some unknown motive at the time, Grant ran in the other direction, adopted by his teammates and delirious Oak Park followers. There have been so many people celebrating he ended up pushed into the health club lobby.
Watching from the bench was his father, who didn’t perceive why his son was headed out of the health club. “The coaches were asking, ‘Where is he going?’” he said.
It seems the surge of people celebrating compelled Grant into the lobby. His father reminded him afterward to maybe next time keep in the health club.
But make no mistake about, Aaron has gained two Southern Section titles as a coach, and this second ranks up among the best.
“Proud dad moment,” he said.
