Trevor Immelman, Chairman of the OWGR Governing Board, elaborated: “Since the end of June, the Governing Board has endeavoured to thoroughly evaluate the LIV Golf application.

“We stay dedicated to the OWGR’s mission, which requires honouring the meritocracy woven into the skilled recreation. As such, discussions have been common and stay ongoing.”

“To be clear, progress has been made, but there may be no determination to share at this time. We will continue to work intently with LIV Golf as it continues to evolve to guarantee its utility is dealt with with equity, integrity and consistency, as said beforehand.”

Following the league’s launch in 2022, then-CEO Greg Norman initially sought OWGR accreditation but faced rejection. Current CEO Scott O’Neil submitted a fresh application in July of 2025, expressing optimism about the prospects while maintaining close collaboration with Immelman.

“We are working very intently with [chairman] Trevor Immelman and the board of OWGR,” O’Neil, who replaced Norman at the start of 2025, said.

“It’s probably that it’s going to have an impression at some level. We are having conversations with Trevor, who is doing an extraordinary and troublesome job in direction of a resolution that we hope to have in place by next season.

“There are a whole host of things we are talking through.” Back in July, Immelman revealed they’re scrutinizing the submission meticulously while participating with LIV golf.

“The OWGR Board is committed to a thorough evaluation process of all applications, and LIV’s application will be reviewed in accordance with OWGR’s criteria to ensure fairness, integrity, and consistency,” declared Immelman, a former Masters winner.

“We appreciate the interest of LIV Golf and all Tours in contributing to the global landscape of men’s professional golf through OWGR. Further updates will be provided as the review progresses.”

The initial rejection of the proposal originated from ex-OWGR chairman Peter Dawson, who expressed considerations concerning the circuit’s framework and event construction, though LIV Golf has subsequently modified its format from 54 to 72 holes to align with the PGA and DP World Tours.
