Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer, have been found dead in their home after a suspected double murder. The couple have been found by the authorities inside Reiner’s home in Brentwood, Los Angeles, on Sunday night time.

Reiner, 78, and Michele, 68, have been found with what appeared to be stab wounds. Los Angeles Police Department captain Mike Bland confirmed the pressure is investigating it as an “apparent homicide”.

A spokesperson for their household said: “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”

Reiner directed standard motion pictures including When Harry Met Sally, The Princess Bride and Misery.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass called Reiner’s death a devastating loss for town. She said: “Rob Reiner’s contributions reverberate throughout American culture and society, and he has improved countless lives through his creative work and advocacy fighting for social and economic justice.

“An acclaimed actor, director, producer, author, and engaged political activist, he always used his presents in service of others.”

The son of comedy legend Carl Reiner, Rob Reiner was married to photographer Michele Singer Reiner since 1989. The two met while he was directing “When Harry Met Sally” and have three kids together. Reiner was beforehand married to actor-director Penny Marshall from 1971 to 1981. He adopted her daughter, Tracy Reiner. Carl Reiner died in 2020 at age 98 and Marshall died in 2018.
