Sun guard Leïla Lacan intercepted Breanna Stewart’s go supposed for Sabrina Ionescu with only six seconds left in Monday evening’s sport and the Liberty up by only two.
But as Lacan took off for the other end, Ionescu chased her down and cleanly swatted the ball away to forestall a potential game-tying layup.
Ionescu’s game-saving block secured the Liberty’s 81-79 win against the Sun at Barclays Center.
Monday’s sport shouldn’t have been as close as it was for most of the last three quarters.
The Liberty made it a lot tougher than it needed to be.
Then again, that appears to be a pattern with this workforce.
The Liberty — who welcomed back Stewart for the first time in a month — led by as many as 17 factors in the first quarter.

And it wasn’t the same old suspects for the Sun who obtained sizzling.
Aneesah Morrow had 18 factors and 15 rebounds and Lacan scored a game-high 22 factors off the bench.
But the Liberty managed to pull off a gritty win.

Stewart completed with a team-high 19 factors and added 5 rebounds.
Jonquel Jones contributed 18 factors, 11 rebounds and six assists while Ionescu recorded 11 factors, 9 assists and seven rebounds.
The Liberty return to motion Thursday when they host the Mystics.
