San Francisco laundromat owner blasts Burning Man…

Talk about airing your soiled laundry.

A fed-up San Francisco laundromat owner is clapping back after a Burning Man festivalgoer allegedly dumped dust-caked gear into the store’s machines, leaving washers busted from the notoriously cussed muck trekked home from Nevada’s Black Rock Desert.

A TikTok video posted on Wednesday by Dewi Redpath, who owns Bali Laundry, confirmed the grim aftermath of what occurs after the playa follows Burners all the best way back to the Bay Area.

After a buyer got here in with a “huge amount of extremely dusty laundry and rugs” and used their greatest 60 pound washer, “it was covered in fine dust and then the same dirt got caked inside multiple dryers.”

And this isn’t your average dust.

Burning Man’s notorious “playa dust” comes from the dry lake mattress where the nine-day competition erects its non permanent Black Rock City, and its tremendous consistency means it could actually work its means into seemingly the whole lot.

It’s also alkaline, making it particularly cussed and doubtlessly corrosive.

Burning Man itself warns festivalgoers to wash clothes immediately after leaving the playa, and recommends including white vinegar to a load to help break down the mud. They also warning that the mud can harm the electronics in your car, upholstery and plastics if you let it linger.

But bringing a notably filthy haul to an unsuspecting laundromat successfully makes any person else deal with the mess, and online commenters had been fast to unleash fury on the irresponsible competition attendee.

Redpath reportedly spent hours cleansing the washers, dryers and the entire laundromat, but finally needed to call a technician for help inspecting the machinery.

“Burners love to talk about their enlightened community and then the do anti-social, irresponsible vandalism like this,” an indignant commenter chimed in.

“They came to ruin yours so they wouldn’t ruin their own,” another added.

Some cleansing companies nearer to the desert have reportedly been long acquainted with the “post-Burn” invasion and would fairly not contact it.

“Sue them,” one particular person wrote in the feedback. “All of the car wash and laundromats near burning man have a no Burners policy because of this. It’s a well known hazard.”

This 12 months, roughly 70,000 people had been anticipated to populate Black Rock City, where mud storms once again battered the non permanent desert metropolis.
