Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos believes Savannah Guthrie’s mother is the sufferer of a “targeted kidnapping.”
Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen at her home in Tucson, Arizona, on January 31, and she was reported lacking the next day.
The search for her is now in its third week, with the Sheriff’s Department and the FBI working together to strive and discover Nancy and carry her home. It comes after an ex-FBI agent revealed the hidden codeword that Savannah used in her message to the abductors.
In a new interview with Fox News’ Jonathan Hunt, the sheriff revealed that no DNA match has been discovered from a glove retrieved from the crime scene – and investigators are no nearer to zeroing in on a suspect.
During the interview with the TV community, Nanos shut down the idea circulated online that Nancy’s disappearance may have been a “burglary gone wrong.”

The Arizona sheriff said, “I believe that was a kidnapping, targeted kidnapping. I believe whoever did that knew what they were up to, knew who they were after.”
The feedback got here after the sheriff revealed that all of Nancy’s relations have been cleared as potential suspects.
He wrote in a assertion on Monday, February 16, “To be clear…the Guthrie family – to include all siblings and spouses – has been cleared as possible suspects in this case.
“The household has been nothing but cooperative and gracious and are victims in this case. To recommend in any other case is just not only mistaken, it’s merciless.
“The Guthrie family are victims plain and simple…please, I’m begging you the media to honor your profession and report with some sense of compassion and professionalism.”
Nanos later said he had chosen to disclose the knowledge while calling for people to show kindness and compassion in the direction of the Guthrie household.
As reported by NBC News, he said in a textual content message on Monday night, “Because sometimes we forget we’re human and we hurt and kindness matters. It is every cops duty to stand up and be that voice for our victims.”
He added, “I’m not going to sit in silence when others are attacking the innocent. Isn’t that what the badge represents?”
This is the first time that anybody has been formally cleared in the case, as the search for Nancy continues.
Meanwhile, the sheriff has admitted there was a wrestle when it comes to figuring out a particular person of curiosity – and a potential motive for abducting Nancy.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Nanos admitted that the dearth of a clear motivation in Nancy’s disappearance has made investigating the case more tough.Â
“And that’s what makes me say this is a kidnapping,” he said. “The motivation for it is where we get stuck, right? Is it for money?
“I imply, we had the one demand where they requested for money. But is it actually for money, or is it for revenge for one thing?”
Officials have expressed concern about Nancy’s health because she needs vital daily medicine. She is said to have a pacemaker and have dealt with high blood pressure and heart issues, according to sheriff’s dispatcher audio on broadcastify.com.
