Stephen Colbert rips apart Trump as he sets his | TV Shows

Stephen Colbert didn’t maintain back Wednesday night time as he tore into Donald Trump’s renewed curiosity in buying Greenland.

“Even the coldest locations on the planet are heating up, like Greenland,” Colbert said during The Late Show.

“For some reason, and we’re not entirely sure why, Donald Trump is obsessed with that frozen gravel pile and won’t rule out using the military to acquire it.”

Colbert identified that Greenland, a Danish territory, is protected under NATO’s Article 5, which states that an assault on one member is an assault on all.

“So if we attack Greenland, we’ll have to fight all of NATO,” he said. “And you know who else is in NATO? The United States. And we don’t want to fight them. They’re insane.”

Trump’s fixation with Greenland resurfaced after the U.S. navy captured President Nicolás Maduro.

On Truth Social, Trump claimed Venezuela’s interim authorities had agreed to switch 30 to 50 million barrels of oil to the U.S., with the proceeds to be managed by him straight “to benefit the people of Venezuela and the United States.”

“Good God. That is the most illegal-sounding thing I have ever heard,” he said. “The only way this could sound more illegal is if Trump parked the oil tankers in a school zone.”

The host also mocked Trump’s declare that the funds would help Venezuelans.

“So, good news, people of Venezuela. Caracas is getting a ballroom,” he joked.

Shortly after Maduro’s seize, Katie Miller, spouse of White House adviser Stephen Miller, posted a graphic of Greenland with a U.S. flag and the caption “Soon.”

In an interview with GWN’s Jake Tapper, Miller refused to rule out navy motion, also questioning Denmark’s sovereignty over the island.

“The real question is: By what right does Denmark assert control over Greenland?” Miller said.

Former U.S. ambassador to NATO Ivo Daalder warned that navy motion in Greenland might unravel America’s standing within NATO.

“To suggest that American security in the Arctic requires that it owns Greenland implicitly indicates that the NATO security commitment is hollow,” he wrote.

“Taking Greenland won’t be difficult,” Daalder added. “But the damage to our alliances could be massive.”
