Stephen Colbert did not maintain back as he criticized Donald Trump for new threats made in his Iran conflict speech.
It’s been an eventful few days, with the president making headlines for sharing an expletive-filled risk to Iran on Truth Social on Sunday, April 5. In the post, Trump declared Tuesday, April 7, will mark “Power Plant Day and Bridge Day” in a mixed strike operation against the Middle Eastern nation.
He then delivered an deal with from the White House on Monday, April 6, while standing next to Melania Trump and an actor inside a giant Easter Bunny costume.

Colbert wasn’t impressed with Trump’s speech and addressed it in his opening monologue for Monday’s Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
“This weekend, the U.S. military staged a daring and incredibly complex mission to rescue a downed airman from inside Iran as enemy forces raced to capture him,” Colbert started during the April 6 broadcast. He described the operation as “breathtaking” before enjoying a clip from Trump’s speech.
“What about the rescue that took place yesterday. It’s something that you rarely see,” the president said as the Easter Bunny clapped next to him.
The show then cut back to Colbert who began slow clapping while struggling to maintain in his laughter.
Eventually, he said, “Yes, you rarely see a military operation announced next to the Easter Bunny.”
Colbert continued, “The closest is when President Obama did this,” before enjoying a clip of Obama asserting the killing of Osama Bin Laden, with the dancing Philadelphia Phillies’ mascot edited into the background.
Colbert joked, “I remember, I remember. Amazing night.” He then informed viewers, “After the bunny left, Trump repeated his threats to Iran.”
A clip confirmed Trump talking to a reporter as he said the U.S. army is “obliterating” Iran under his command. As the president made the chilling feedback, jazz music performed in the background.
Colbert concluded the skit by enjoying a recorder, with his viewers erupting into laughter.
A clip of Colbert’s broadcast was shared on Instagram, where viewers took to the feedback to share their ideas. “Best late night host ever,” one individual raved.
“I love Cobert,” another commented as a third individual added, “Man! I’m going to miss your show so much. So good!”
