“Although we did that with our guest cast, and I think we were the first sitcom of the nineties to have an interracial relationship between Grandma Yetta and her boyfriend, who is beautifully played by Ray Charles.

“But maybe that would be something to explore to bring it into 2025 and with a different cast…a new cast. “ Zima, who enjoyed major roles in Californication and Heroes, is hoping to have Drescher alter her thoughts.

“I think there’s always a space for comedy and for unfiltered comedy for people who are 100% themselves the way Fran is,” adding,“And I feel like the world is desperately wanting that as we see, but I feel like it would do really well. A reboot of The Nanny would make perfect sense anytime. So just everybody would have to decide on whatever storyline made sense.

“I thought because I just had a child like, oh, Fran could be like the nanny of my kids, or she could help out my kids and I would be having my own ideas about the way that she’s raising them or whatever.

“There’s lots of different ways to do a reboot, but I’m just grateful that it’s so many people’s comfort show. It makes so many people happy and that it lives in a space of its own. If it never came back, that would also be perfect.”

Tom, who starred in the two Beethoven screen movies in the 1990s, is adamant Drescher’s character can bring joy to viewers at this time. “The world needs a reboot to embrace our differences. The Nanny is classic sitcom. It’s opposite worlds collide fly and fall in love and it’s a princess story.

“But I think a reboot would be extraordinary.” He continued, “There’s so many options [for stories.] Fran and Maxwell could be producing their play the musical on Broadway.

“Maggie could possibly have gotten a divorce and maybe she has children and needs a nanny to take care of them. There are just so many different options.”

Tom explained how Drescher was more than a boss and major star over their six seasons before the show was cancelled in 1999. “Fran has been such a mentor to me with fashion and all my boyfriends. She was my boss and she taught me so much during the pivotal years of my life.”

He added, “The show’s nothing without the fans. I am so honored to have been a part of the Nanny. It is classic television and the fans are great. The way that they have supported us and just been right there along our side for all these years is I love ’em and thank you. Thank you to them for watching and enjoying the show.”

Drescher attended the world well-known Hollywood Boulevard museum after being honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The former president of SAG-AFTRA, laughed that being well-known around the world with the position has had some advantages.

“I love to travel, so it’s very helpful for me because people recognize me wherever I go,” contunuing, “And so I usually get the good table in the restaurant, the discount at the hotel.

“I really feel very blessed that I get all of this constructive reinforcement from people that I’ve made pleased over the years, but I’ve never had the chance to meet in particular person.

“So when I do, I try and be gracious because I can appreciate that it’s a moment where they feel like they’re meeting someone that they’ve admired for a very long time.”
