The View co-hosts question Cheryl Hines on RFK | TV Shows
The View teases show return for September
Actress Cheryl Hines battled it out with the co-hosts of The View during her latest look on the ABC speak show, as she was grilled about her husband, RFK Jr., and his disinformation.
During the Tuesday, Oct. 14 episode, Hines, who was selling her new memoir Unscripted, opened up about the Secretary of Health and Human Services’ stances on vaccines and President Donald Trump and touched on his lack of a medical background.
After the largely civil dialog started with Hines speaking about Curb Your Enthusiasm, the co-hosts modified its direction by questioning her about Kennedy, whom she has been married to for 11 years.
She said, “When I met Bobby, he was living in New York, I was living in LA and I had just been in this entertainment sort of bubble, and then I meet him, and he’s an environmental attorney, and he’s fascinating and he’s interesting, and he’s smart and he’s funny and completely different from anyone I ever met in my life.”
“That’s for sure,” joked co-host Joy Behar, before Sunny Hostin took control of the dialog, asking whether or not Hines supported her husband’s determination to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race and help to Donald Trump.

“Did you share any concerns that you may have had about that?” she requested.
Hines replied, “Well, I always share all of my concerns with my husband…So with Bobby, that was a very difficult decision to make with President Trump.”
Hines, who said she’s a registered Independent and former Democrat, admitted that she initially was “guarded” about Kennedy’s determination and that it was a “leap of faith” for him to change from a Democrat to Repubilcan in about a yr’s time.
“It was complicated, right?,” she said. “Because that is a big change politically.” Hines added that Trump and Kennedy “sat down and talked” and had “a lot of common goals,” including their need for decrease prescription drug prices in the United States.
“What about access to vaccines?,” Hostin requested, to which Hines replied, “They both want access to vaccines.”
Behar added that Trump acquired his COVID booster the other day.
Behar told Hines that it wasn’t honest of her and her co-hosts to put her on the spot like this, to which Hines said, “Thank you,” before rolling her eyes.

Behar continued to add, “It seems as though Bobby and Trump are casting doubt on the efficacy of the vaccine, which makes Americans very nervous, so that’s the problem that we’re having.”
Hines then introduced up a 60 Minutes report about the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program, which has paid billions of {dollars} for vaccine accidents.
“So my question is, can we do better?,” Hines said, including, “Yes to vaccines, they are important, and they are an important part of our healthcare.
“Can we do better? Can we make them safer? Can we pay attention to dad and mom who say, My little one acquired the vaccine and modified and stopped hitting markers, stopped developing the best way they have been developing.”
The discussion then went on to Tylenol and autism, to which Hines said, “Consult your doctor.”
Whoopi Goldberg then said, “This just isn’t your battle, actually, to be honest, this is your husband’s. But I do need to say, you understand, he isn’t a doctor and he isn’t a skilled, and often occasions when he is talking, he’s talking not with the best info…
“And some of the things he suggested take it out of the hands of my doctor and me or my OB-GYN and me. And I wonder, does it give you pause?”

Hines replied that “90% of Secretaries of HHS have not been doctors,” and that “one of Obama’s Secretaries of HHS was an economist.” Hostin added that most HHS Secretaries have had scientific backgrounds if not medical backgrounds.
Hines responded, “I just wanted to follow up, because Bobby’s background, everything I have seen him do, he has dedicated his career to suing big corporations because of toxins that are have been affecting people’s health…
“He was half of the group that sued Monsanto because of Roundup, a pesticide that was inflicting cancer. GMOs proper? He sued Dupont, he sued Exxon, and he sued these firms for health causes, because they have been inflicting health issues.”
Hostin added, “But the issue, respectfully, is that your husband is the least certified Department of Health and Human Services head that we’ve had in historical past.”
“Less certified than an economist?,” Hines replied. The conversation changed to misinformation and disinformation about Covid, circumcision, baby formula and food dyes. Kennedy’s brain worm was also spoken about.
“Just so we do not have to make any more jokes about,” Behar said, “Does he or or does he not have a mind worm?”
“It ate just a little bit of his mind and died,” Hines said. “So don’t fear.”
Ultimately, Hines said she was proud of her husband and Goldberg thanked her for coming on to speak with them all and invited her back. “Really?,” Hines said, with a mock sigh of exasperation.
