Thunderstorms ground departures at Harry Reid Airport

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Departures at Harry Reid International have been grounded due to thunderstorms on Friday afternoon, according to the FAA.

Storms have been seen shifting east-to-west toward the Las Vegas Valley on Friday afternoon. Heavy rain, frequent lightning, gusty winds, and hail are anticipated as storms transfer through the valley, according to the National Weather Service.

NV Energy reported around 82 outages and more than 13,000 clients without energy shortly before 4 p.m.

Traffic lights at Koval Lane and Tropicana Avenue have been reportedly not working shortly after 4 p.m., according to the RTC of Southern Nevada.

The City of Henderson canceled a free out of doors screening along Water Street Plaza, scheduled for Friday evening.

A flash flood warning was also issued for southern Clark County and Western Mohave County until 4:15 p.m.

Earlier Friday afternoon, the National Weather Service of Las Vegas issued a extreme thunderstorm warning for southwestern Clark County until 3:15 p.m. due to strong thunderstorms that have been noticed west of Highway 95 and Cal-Nev-Ari.
