Update on ISIS Plot in NYC Seems to Seriously | Political News
Since Saturday, RedState has been protecting tabs on the thwarted allegedly ISIS-connected bombing attempt close to the residence of the mayor, Gracie Mansion, in New York City, where two teenage, would-be terrorists “ignited and deployed” an IED (improvised explosive machine). And as my colleague Sister Toldjah wrote just Wednesday that Mayor Zohran Mamdani flailed in his initial attempt at responding like a critical chief to what might have been the latest tragic scenario in the Big Apple; her story also helpfully offers some background:Â
Two suspects on the pro-Mamdani aspect, Emir Balat and Ibrahim Kayumi, had been taken into custody after allegedly attempting to commit what DOJ Attorney General Pam Bondi called an “ISIS-inspired attack of terrorism” against those protesting Mamdani. The New York City mayor’s fast responses had been to condemn… white supremacy fairly than Islamism, the latter of which is alleged to be the motivation behind the IED assaults.

You may need to buckle up because there are a number of different components to the update to the story on Thursday.Â
One of them, though, from our buddy Fox News’ Bill Melugin, appears to critically contradict what could possibly be an important assertion by the suspected would-be terrorists’ lawyer: that they didn’t know each other. Melugin begins considerably cheekily in an X post:
I hope you’re sitting down, but it seems that the Pennsylvania teenagers that didn’t know each other and stumbled their method into an ISIS model terrorist assault in New York City not only knew each other, but plotted other assaults as nicely.

I hope you’re sitting down, but it seems that the Pennsylvania teenagers that didn’t know each other and stumbled their method into an ISIS model terrorist assault in New York City not only knew each other, but plotted other assaults as nicely.Â
The pocket book and other evidence advised Emir Balat and Ibrahim Kayumi had been planning some variety of an assault for at least a week
In the video reporting by Phil Taitt of NY’s Eyewitness News, the reporter also says there seems to be documentation officers discovered displaying coordination and planning by the pair, with them contemplating other targets (“soft targets such as shopping centers”), then finally selected Gracie Mansion. These had been outlined, reportedly, in a pocket book which was found while looking out a storage unit in Bucks County, PA. But authorities didn’t discover particular shops or other particulars listed on those secondary plans. They did study that this pre-planning for the Saturday assault occurred “for more than a week.”
The investigators also searched digital devices.
Lastly, there’s an update on the hero law enforcement officers, who put their lives in hazard on Saturday, not understanding what the character of the assault was in the early seconds. They told the media there was “no time to think” in the midst of the protest/counterprotest outdoors the mayor’s home. “The two saw the suspects holding bombs, and went after them,” Taitt said. Then, as he famous, the explosives didn’t go off, and the lads had been arrested.
The investigation of the newly-found paperwork and other supplies in the storage space, according to the report, stays ongoing.
This is a developing story. RedState will present updates as occasions warrant.
