He explained that if either lady wished another man, they may talk about separating, but sharing his wives with another husband isn’t one thing he’s keen to entertain.
However, when the dialog turned to the chance of him taking a third spouse, the pastor didn’t spiritually shut the door.
“You can go as far as you can afford,” he said.
Israel clarified that he wouldn’t deliver another lady into their marriage without his current wives’ settlement, explaining that their household dynamic is one thing he needs to defend.
He also acknowledged that a potential third spouse would need to match into the prevailing family.
According to Israel, he believes the husband’s obligations within marriage are different from those of his wives, and he considers that distinction justification for the association.

During the interview, Reid immediately questioned the couple about navigating the transition from a religious father-daughter relationship to marriage, and Shakayla made it clear that her husband’s spiritual authority stays unchanged.
“He is always going to be my spiritual leader. That doesn’t change,” she said.
However, she acknowledged that turning into his spouse required an adjustment.
“That was a transition just in general because I had to learn what it looked like to be a wife,” Shakayla explained.
“But the best part about it was, I had an example right here,” she said, referring to Lydia.
Shakayla acknowledged that the transition wasn’t without difficulties, but credited Lydia with serving to her perceive how to match into their household.
As for Israel, he described the shift from religious father to husband as comparatively straightforward.
“Actually, it was straightforward because who I’m at church is who I’m at home. I don’t like, in a sense, change hats.
And while Shakayla finally embraced her new function in the household, Lydia admitted that she initially had a VERY different response to the thought of sharing her husband.

Lydia explained that she struggled to reconcile the thought with the spiritual teachings and cultural expectations she’d grown up with.
She finally started finding out Scripture, researching polygyny, praying, and fasting before coming to consider the association aligned with her religion.
