For once, it wasn’t President Donald Trump inflicting chaos on TV with his antics, but slightly one of the hosts.
On Friday evening’s episode of MSNBC’s The eleventh Hour, host Stephanie Ruhle was main a panel dialogue about President Donald Trump‘s push to get rid of the filibuster, which he is selling as a method to resolve the shutdown, despite going through a week of important political setbacks. Her company included Tom Rogers, Christina Greer, Steve Liesman, and Sami Sage.
Tom was mid-sentence when immediately a loud ringtone blared through the studio. To everybody’s shock, the telephone belonged to Stephanie, who did not hesitate to reply the call.
Before her telephone rang, Stephanie was saying, “We’re going to talk about that later in the show. I mean, it’s extraordinary because it was economic insecurity that got Donald Trump elected to begin with.
“But Trump is saying it is the shutdown’s fault, proper. That’s what he said on Wednesday. Yet he is not telling Republicans in Congress go work with Democrats. He’s saying end the filibuster. Don’t fear. Democrats will most seemingly never acquire energy again. That’s his message to his squad.”
Tom replied, “Coupled with the message that if they do gain energy, they are going to get rid of the filibuster day one. So, you may as effectively do it first, because in any other case we’re going to be the ones struggling the penalties.
“And so, you know, that’s not going to happen. Majority leader Thune has made very clear he doesn’t have the votes for it. It wouldn’t bother me, quite frankly, because the filibuster has become something of a tool that much more favors red states.
“When you suppose of the fact that 15 crimson states representing 30 senators account for about 10 % of the complete population, and those 30 votes in the Senate get them,” he continued.
Without warning, a ringtone interrupted the discussion. “Oh my goodness. Son, I’m in the center of a tv show. You’re the only individual I might ever reply the telephone for. I’m going to have to call you back,” Stephanie frantically exclaimed as the panel looked on in shock.
Dismissing the interruption, Stephanie encouraged Tom to resume his point before he remarked, “That’s never occurred before!” to which she responded, “Never.”
Despite the disruption, Tom enthused, “I like that. I like that,” before picking up where he left off, “And mainly, that those crimson states representing only 10 % of the population getting 30 of the 40 votes that they need to have the ability to be blocking in the Senate.
“So, it really would not bother me as a Democrat to see the filibuster go. It’s not going to happen over this fight, though,” he concluded.
Stephanie did not disclose the cause for her son’s call and the program then returned to its regular format.
