Golden Bachelor Gerry mocked as he offers up | TV Shows

Host Jesse Palmer requested Turner and former contestant and the show’s first Golden Bachelorette, Joan Vassos, if they’d any advice for Owens and his winner, Peg Munson.

During the live event, Vassos and her fiancé, Chock Chapple, welcomed Owens and Munson to the Golden membership, while Turner said he didn’t really feel Owens needed his advice, but was completely happy to see another person in the same sneakers as him.

Despite Turner’s low-key reply, followers at home have been fast to react. One particular person wrote, “Let’s NOT ask Gerry for advice on relationships after he said he’d chop up Theresa’s body and hide it in a shed #TheGoldenBachelor.”

Another commented, “Gerry realizes that he’s in no position right now to give advice. #TheGoldenBachelor.”

A 3rd wrote, “ABC has lost their minds — we’re supposed to take Gerry’s advice? Who 100% just lit his former wife up in a cheesy book? Again, C’MON #GoldenBachelor.” A fourth requested, “2nd Golden Bachelor tweet… Really? We’re asking Gerry for advice? The guy who torched his former fiancée by selling her out for the almighty dollar in a book?”

Turner was the first ever lead on The Golden Bachelor, starring in season 1, which the community launched in 2023. During filming, he met Theresa Nist, who went on to grow to be his fiancée and later his spouse.

They married in January 2024 during a televised ceremony, but announced their divorce three months later in April. “Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations, and we’ve looked closely at our situation, our living situation and so forth, and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s probably time for us to dissolve our marriage,” Turner said at the time.

In his latest memoir, Golden Years: What I’ve Learned From Love, Loss, and Reality TV, Turner revisits his time with Nist and displays on their relationship and subsequent cut up.

He also acknowledges his diagnosis of a slow-growing bone-marrow cancer, Waldenström’s macroglobulinemia, and suggests that his health influenced his outlook on life and love.

Nist, though, disputes that the sickness was a issue in the breakup. “I was just so surprised that he even said that…I knew about the cancer a long time ago,” she has said.

Owens, the new lead in season 2 of The Golden Bachelor, brought about controversy forward of his season by stating he would cut any feminine contestant “if they’re 60 or over.” In response, Turner told Owens, “The age thing…ignore the number, deal with the person.”
