Jimmy Kimmel slams ‘lies about Stephen Colbert | TV Shows
Jimmy Kimmel hasn’t hesitated to take goal at President Donald Trump since his September suspension from his show, including at the president’s “least favorite” son, Eric Trump, and is now focusing on the cancellation of his buddy Stephen Colbert’s rival show on CBS.
Colbert confirmed in July that his show was being canceled after the current season, and just two months later, Kimmel was suspended from his show for three episodes due to feedback he made about Charlie Kirk’s accused murderer.
Kimmel went on to admit after his reinstatement that he’d “love” to have the president on his show, though he has taken goal whenever he has a likelihood.
Now, in a podcast episode which was taped prior to his own suspension, the 57-year-old took goal at the “lies” he said have been told to justify Colbert’s cancellation.
He made the feedback on Ted Danson’s show, ‘Where Everybody Knows Your Name.’
Kimmel has been vocal since the summer time about Colbert’s cancellation, beforehand calling out the numerical determine to Variety as nicely.
“I just want to say that the idea that Stephen Colbert’s show was losing $40 million a year is beyond nonsensical,” he said in August. “These alleged insiders who supposedly analyze the budgets of the shows–I don’t know why they are, but I do know they don’t know what they’re talking about.”
“They seem to only be focused on advertising revenue and have completely forgotten about affiliate fees, which number in the hundreds of millions–probably in total billions–and you must allocate a certain percentage of those fees to late-night shows,” he explained.
Kimmel went on to add, “It really is surprising how little the media seems to know about how the media works. There’s just not a snowball’s chance in hell that that’s anywhere near accurate. Even that–that’s all you need to know.. Suddenly he’s losing $40 million a year?”
Both Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert air weeknights on ABC and CBS respectively.
