Brooks Koepka makes his feelings clear on PGA Tour | Golf News

Brooks Koepka admitted there have been “a lot” of issues he missed about the PGA Tour following his much-anticipated comeback to the circuit.

In the opening spherical of the 2026 Farmers Insurance Open, Koepka carded bogeys on the par-4 4th and par-5 thirteenth while posting a 1-over 73. Though he managed to salvage his spherical by sinking a birdie on the par-5 18th, the 35-year-old still confronts an uphill battle to make the cut.

After the mud settled on his hectic afternoon, Koepka expressed appreciation for once again competing alongside gamers like Max Homa and Ludvig Aberg. His enjoying companions did not fare a lot better, with the pair sitting at 3-over and 6-over, respectively.

“There was a lot. I missed the guys, honestly,” Koepka told the Golf Channel when requested if he missed any features of the PGA Tour while with LIV Golf.

“I missed playing with Max a lot. Ludwig, I haven’t had the chance to do it that often just because when he was coming out, I was gone. It was exciting. It was a comfortable group. It felt good, and I enjoyed being between the ropes again.”

In June 2022, Koepka left the PGA Tour and signed a four-year contract with LIV Golf that was reportedly value over $100 million. Despite having one 12 months left on the profitable contract, he announced that he can be “stepping away” from the Saudi-backed league to spend more high quality time with his household.

Koepka then formally reapplied for PGA Tour membership before returning through the newly created Returning Member Program.

Fans turned out in large numbers at Torrey Pines to show their help for Koepka, with members of the group repeatedly shouting, “Welcome back Brooks.”

The reception wasn’t misplaced on Koepka, who said: “It was a lot of fun. There was a lot of support out there from the fans, which was really cool.

“It made me really feel good. It was thrilling. Obviously, I just wished to get that first tee shot achieved with and get back into the rhythm of enjoying golf where I’m most comfy.

“It was a lot of fun. It was a good group with Max and Ludwig. I enjoyed it. I just wish we all could have played a little better.”

Evaluating his efficiency following a almost four-month absence from competitors, Koepka added, “I would have liked to have driven the ball a little bit better. I felt like I was in the rough all day. Ball-striking-wise, though, iron play is phenomenal.

“I assume I did not actually give myself that many good birdie seems because I used to be in the tough all day. But when I did, I felt like I used to be advantageous.

“But overall, I’m pleased. I haven’t played a competitive round in a while. But the game feels there.”
