The Washington Post on Wednesday announced mass layoffs across the newsroom, including its whole sports activities desk – ignoring impassioned pleas from reporters to billionaire proprietor Jeff Bezos.
More than 300 journalists across the newsroom might be impacted, significantly the paper’s local, worldwide and sports activities desks, according to the New York Times.
The whole sports activities desk – home of legends like Shirley Povich – can be eradicated and only a handful of its 45 staffers can be reassigned around the newsroom, according to the report.
