Writing around 9pm ET, the U.S. president described Israel as a “great ally” of Washington in a dig at counterparts in Europe who refused to be part of the Iran conflict.
“Whether people like Israel or not, they’ve confirmed to be a GREAT Ally of the United States of America,” wrote Trump. “They are Courageous, Bold, Loyal, and Smart and, unlike others that have shown their true colors in a moment of conflict and stress, Israel fights hard, and knows how to WIN!”
Earlier reviews painted a image of a distressed Netanyahu who had been shocked by Trump declaring Israel “prohibited” from finishing up airstrikes in Lebanon, primarily contradicting the textual content of the ceasefire settlement between Lebanon and Israel.

According to the U.S. State Department, the deal states that Israel deserves the fitting to defend itself “at any time, against planned, imminent, or ongoing attacks.” Nevertheless, Israel “will not carry out any offensive military operations against Lebanese targets, including civilian, military, and other state targets.”
The ceasefire deal was the end result of a flurry of diplomatic discussions between Washington, Tel Aviv, and Beirut. The talks had been thought-about the first direct diplomatic dialog between Israel and Lebanon in many years, a transfer that Hezbollah publicly opposed.
“May have been a historic day for Lebanon. Good things are happening!!!” Trump said in a social media post commenting on the deal.
Hezbollah chief Naim Kassem, however, told al-Manar TV that the settlement between Lebanon and Israel “means nothing at the practical level, but it is an insult to our country.”
“Everyone knows that the government of Lebanon has not met or approved this statement,” he said. He added that the ceasefire ought to entail a “complete cessation of all hostilities” and that Hezbollah “will respond to enemy violations.”
