Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court to shield her publicity and character rights, objecting to the unauthorized use of her identify, photos, and identification across different platforms and merchandise. The plea highlights points of business misuse, misleading portrayals, and the online circulation of obscene, altered photographs.
Justice Tejas Karia heard the matter, acknowledging the gravity of the allegations and indicating a willingness to issue injunctions to stop additional misuse. The case is scheduled for its next listening to on January 15, 2026.
Representing Rai, Senior Advocate Sandeep Sethi informed the court that her identification was being extensively exploited for business gain and misleading publicity. He highlighted web sites falsely claiming to be official platforms and referenced unauthorized merchandise such as mugs, T-shirts, and drinkware that includes her identify and image.
Sethi cited an instance of misuse involving a company named Aishwarya Nation Wealth, which had falsely declared Rai as its Chairperson in official information. He clarified that the actor had no affiliation with the firm and characterised the act as fraudulent and unlawful.
Sethi also voiced concern about the online unfold of altered photographs of the actor, noting that obscene, morphed, and AI-generated visuals of Rai have been being circulated. He described this as a critical breach of her dignity and rights, emphasizing that “her likeness is being exploited for inappropriately explicit purposes” and underscoring the deeply troubling nature of such content.
Appearing for Google, advocate Mamta Rani said that content might only be eliminated upon submission of particular URLs. Justice Karia famous that although a consolidated order could be preferable, the petitioner’s broad requests may require separate injunctions against each defendant. The court additional clarified that the plaintiff might either present particular person URLs for takedown or search aid under the Blocking and Screening Instructions (BSI) framework.
