BBC Breakfast viewers weren’t amused by the review of the 12 months’s movies that includes on Sunday’s (December 29) programme and took specific umbrage with the royal 12 months in review.
The movies have been working all weekend as the show reminds viewers of 2024’s highlights. Presenter Nina Warhurst, who was occupying the well-known crimson couch alone for the version, launched clips all through the morning which mirrored on the 12 months, together with a transferring movie about rugby legend and MND campaigner Rob Burrow.
However, the reminiscing wasn’t a hit with viewers, and the royal review of the 12 months proved notably controversial, with a reminder of Prince Harry‘s 12 months hitting a notably bitter word with one viewer.
Taking to X to vent one groaned: “More review of the year repeats #BBCBreakfast,” accompanied by rolling eye emojis. They then posted a second criticism writing: “What other review of the year delights will we have tomorrow? I’ve seen the sports one, politics one, maybe #BBCBreakfast.”
A second introduced they have been switching off saying: “Well this is gloomy #bbcbreakfast” including in one other post “Turning off #bbcbreakfast.”
A 3rd was not completely happy at protection at the review of the royal 12 months, raging: “A half-hour of what the royal family did this year. Heaven help us. F*** all of any use……fixed it for you in two seconds. #BBCBreakfast.”
While a fourth was more sympathetic, the section nonetheless did not go down effectively. “Really pulling out stop oh Royal Family had a hard year I wouldn’t wish Cancer on anyone horrible disease.
“But they’ve had the best medical care; they have servants at their beck and call. Kate did nothing I do know people with most cancers needed to work and many others #BBCBreakfast,” they identified.
A fifth viewer had robust feeling about the mentions of Prince Harry and his spouse Meghan Markle in the clip writing: “Don’t need to see what ginger and whinger did or did not do that 12 months ….. #BBCBreakfast.”
However, a sixth disagreed, complimenting Harry on his year while criticising the rest of the family.
“Think that Ginger Winger had a implausible 12 months good on Prince Harry and Meghan. They’ve had a profitable 12 months and thriving. While in England, the Royal Family supported Prince Andrew. It was unhealthy enough that the Epstein saga introduced in Chinese spies into their Palaces. #BBCBreakfast,” they opined.
Elsewhere on the show Nina was pressured to intervene when South East Asia Correspondent for BBC News, Jonathan Head, started struggling with coughing as he tried to continue with the show while reporting on the Bangkok air crash tragedy.
This prompted Nina to step in as she said: “Jonathan with the newest from Bangkok, possibly grab some water? Thank you Jonathan for the replace!”
