Birmingham begins quest for City Section flag | College News
While some flag soccer groups have been enjoying for weeks, one of the City Section’s anticipated top groups, Birmingham, finally debuts on Wednesday at Arleta. The Patriots got here away with two wins, 44-0 and 15-0.
Coach Jim Rose has only two seniors on his group and has been working to get his gamers acquainted with new guidelines, from punting to the protection getting to be only one yard away from the road of scrimmage before climbing the ball.
Bella Gonzalez, a second baseman on the softball group, will deal with quarterbacking duties early while ready for the No. 1 quarterback to recuperate from a knee injury.
Rose is especially excited about freshman Ellie St. Hubert, a security and receiver. “She is really good,” Rose said.
Banning is the defending City Open Division champion. Birmingham received the first title in 2023.
“We always think we’re going to be one of the top teams,” Rose said. “Athletically we’re better than last season.”
