China watching Russia negotiations as Beijing | Political News

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham claimed that China is actively watching the upcoming assembly between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Speaking to NBC’s Kristen Welker on Sunday, the South Carolina senator said that there was more at stake than peace between Ukraine and Russia. “If it ends in a way that looks like that Putin’s overly rewarded, there goes Taiwan,” Graham, 70, said on Meet The Press.

During the phase, Graham told Welker that he hopes Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “can be part of the process.” The senator also added that other components of the peace talks will allegedly govern whether or not a deal is sensible for Ukraine and its companions.

“What would a good deal look like? Making sure that 2022 doesn’t happen again,” he told Welker. “On Biden’s watch and Obama’s watch, Russia invades. The aim for me, and I believe President Trump, is to end it eternally.”

“Now, what would that look like? You’ll have some land swaps, but only after you have security guarantees to Ukraine to stop Russia from doing this again,” added Graham. China has been a major purchaser of Russian fuel, which has greased the wheels of Russia‘s warfare machine.

The senator ended his time by proclaiming that Trump wouldn’t let Taiwan, a U.S. ally, fall. “I am here to tell you that President Trump will end this war in a way to prevent a third invasion and not to entice China to take Taiwan,” he said.

“We’re not out to humiliate Putin, we’re out to get a deal to make sure there’s no third invasion,” he added. This is the latest of statements issued by Graham in defense of the president.

Last month, the outspoken senator issued a challenge to the Russian leader by saying that Trump was prepared to kick Putin “in the —.” Appearing on Late Night in America, the South Carolina senator issued the statement while talking about Iran and how Putin seemed to break the promise that Ukraine‘s sovereignty would be respected if they gave up nuclear weapons.

“He’s not gonna stop until any person makes him stop. So Trump has been robust on Iran, which is extremely harmful, but in a weakened state. “What’s gonna occur right here is that Trump is gonna impose tariffs on people who buy Russian oil. China, India, and Brazil, those three nations, buy about 80% of low cost Russian oil,” he added. “That’s what retains Putin’s warfare machine going.”
