Country singer speaks out on devastating cancer | Music News

Richard Sterban has shared an update with followers after the nation singer was identified with cancer.

The 82-year-old, who has been a member of The Oak Ridge Boys for more than 50 years, revealed he’s presently receiving treatment for pancreatic cancer.

Richard stepped away from touring with the band in May and has now shared the rationale for his departure. Richard’s announcement comes after nation singer Spencer Hatcher spoke out after his mother died in a home invasion.

Speaking in a press release, Richard started, “In March of this year, I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.”

He continued, “But I am under the care of the best cancer doctors in the country and, with the help of the Good Lord above, I believe I will be able to get through this.”

Richard has been enjoying with The Oak Ridge Boys since 1972, with the vocal quartet having fashioned in the Nineteen Forties. The band’s hits embody Bobbie Sue and American Made.

The current lineup of members consists of Duane Allen, William Lee Golden and Ben James, who changed Joe Bonsall following his death in July 2024.

Joe left the group earlier that 12 months when his ALS symptoms grew to become debilitating and he died six months later due to the degenerative disease.

The Oak Ridge Boys are presently on their American Made: Farewell Tour. Aaron McCune and Tim Duncan are filling in for Richard while he undergoes treatment.
