Jello Biafra, the enduring former frontman and lyricist of punk outfit Dead Kennedys, was transported to the hospital on Saturday, March 7, following a important medical disaster.

The 67-year-old rocker, born Eric Reed Boucher, skilled a ‘hemorrhagic stroke triggered by high blood pressure,’ a condition where a blood vessel bursts within the mind, triggering inside bleeding that damages tissue and elevates strain inside the cranium.

His label, Alternative Tentacles, broke the news to supporters via Instagram on Monday, March 9, noting that the artist was ‘at the moment hospitalized but stable’ at that second. The Dead Kennedys emerged from San Francisco in 1979 before calling it quits in 1986.

The social media announcement said, in half, “Speaking for the Alternative Tentacles family, we are all just very thankful he is okay and getting the care that he needs. We will update you all as we are able.”

“It was this point I thought, ‘Oh s–t, I’m having a stroke!'” he recalled.

The Boulder, Colorado native reassured his supporters at the time, saying, “I still have a lot of great stuff in me, but right now I gotta lotta of rehabbing to do.”

The influential punk musician is acknowledged for his political advocacy, which incessantly intersects with his musical and spoken phrase performances.

In 1979, he launched a marketing campaign for mayor of San Francisco, and later sought the Green Party’s presidential nomination in the lead-up to the 2000 election.

Beyond the Dead Kennedys, he has also led the teams Lard and Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine, and has labored alongside acts such as The Melvins, D.O.A., and Body Count.
