Emmy Awards has no mention of Charlie Kirk days | TV Shows
The 77th Emmy Awards has steered clear of any mention surrounding Charlie Kirk’s assassination.
The event, held at the Peacock Theater and broadcast on CBS, did in fact characteristic politically charged commentary from a number of presenters and winners throughout the show, but Kirk’s death was absent from this system’s tributes.
Hannah Einbinder, who gained best supporting actress in a comedy for Hacks, closed her speech with, “F–k ICE and free Palestine!”
Her Hacks co-star Megan Stalter echoed the sentiment on the pink carpet, holding a clutch purse with the phrases “CEASE FIRE” written on it.
Bryan Cranston, who introduced later in the night, took a dig at Trump’s current criticism of actor Tom Hanks, joking about “woke degenerates like Tom Hanks.”
Jean Smart, also of Hacks, supplied a transient call for unity during her speech, saying, “Be good to each other.”
Mary Steenburgen, who accepted the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award with husband Ted Danson, added, “Life is made up of two emotions: love and fear. The world is a little out of balance right now… We don’t want to live in fear.”
Stephen Colbert, after years of losses, gained the Outstanding Talk Series class, saying, “Ten years ago, in September 2015, Spike Jonze asked me what I wanted this show to be about. I told him, ‘love.’ I don’t know if we got there.”
“But somewhere along the way, especially recently, it became about loss. And loss shows us what we love. Ten years later, in September 2025, I’ve never loved my country more desperately.”
“God bless America. Stay strong. Be brave. And if the elevator tries to bring you down, go crazy and punch a higher floor.”
