Fans slam Kevin Costner’s The West docuseries – TV | TV Shows
The series, which is set to air eight episodes on The History Channel, is meant to present a “fresh take on the epic American West history,” and is narrated by Costner.
However, some fans have taken to Reddit since listening to the episodes to share their disappointment, with many noting that Costner’s narration doesn’t do it any favors.
“Is it just me or does his narration sound like he’s reading?” one fan asked.
“It genuinely feels like he didn’t want to do this, and as he’s reading the words, wants to convey how much he didn’t want to do it…it’s hard to listen to. And I usually really like him,” another said.

“Costner is a great actor, but not so great narrator. Seems concise,” a third wrote.
However, others still defended the series.
“I saw the first few installments of the documentary series earlier this week,” one wrote. “…It’s a serviceable narration, if not particularly impressive from a vocal standpoint. Let’s face it: Costner isn’t exactly known for his incredible voice…But the series itself was terrific, I thought.”
“Loving the series, I’m after some movie recommendations about this era or more specifically about the events in the doco,” another chimed in.
The West airs on The History Channel.
