Fox interrupted as Trump announces Iran ceasefire, | TV Shows

Fox News cut instantly to the White House press convention after its common programming was interrupted by breaking news.

President Donald Trump announced on his social media platform that the US and Iran have been “very far along” with a “definitive” peace settlement and that he had agreed to a two-week ceasefire to enable negotiations to proceed.

In a subsequent update, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt rebuked the media for their coverage of Iran’s initial 10-point peace proposal, suggesting the president’s frustration after she said it was immediately discarded.

In his assertion, Trump referenced a 10-point proposal from Iran that he characterised as “workable”.

This point out of a 10-point proposal from Iran led many to assume Trump was referring to the plan introduced by the Iranian regime days before the ceasefire settlement.

That plan featured control over the Strait of Hormuz, the removing of sanctions, and permission for Iran to continue enriching uranium.

At Wednesday’s briefing, Karoline criticized the press, sustaining the Trump administration would never settle for Iran’s “unserious” calls for.

She said: “The Iranians originally put forward a 10-point plan that was fundamentally unserious, unacceptable, and completely discarded. It was literally thrown in the garbage by President Trump and his negotiating team.

“Many retailers in this room have falsely reported on that plan as being acceptable to the United States, and that is fake. With the president’s deadline fast approaching and the United States navy fully decimating Iran with each passing hour, the regime acknowledged actuality to the negotiating staff.

“They put forward a more reasonable and entirely different and condensed plan to the president and his team. President Trump and the team determined the new modified plan was a workable basis on which to negotiate and to align it with our own 15-point proposal.”

Karoline went on to state: “The president’s red lines, namely the end of uranium enrichment in Iran, have not changed, and the idea that President Trump would ever accept an Iranian wish list as a deal is completely absurd.”

Both the U.S. and Iran will now enter into a two-week negotiation period, permitting time to work toward a lasting decision. The ceasefire arrives just days after Trump issued a stark warning about the potential annihilation of Iranian civilization, “never to be brought back again.”
