Garfield and South Gate headed toward Eastern | College News
Two video games into the Eastern League soccer season and it’s already clear that the matchup on Oct. 17 that includes Garfield at South Gate ought to resolve the league championship.
Garfield (3-2, 2-0), with All-City operating back Ceasar Reyes main the best way, defeated Huntington Park 35-28 on Thursday evening. South Gate (4-2, 2-0), relying on quarterback Michael Gonzalez, defeated Legacy 48-8.
Reyes rushed for 259 yards in 20 carries and scored 4 touchdowns. He also had eight tackles on protection. Reyes has been seeing some motion as a wildcat quarterback, including choices for first-year coach Patrick Vargas.
Gonzalez handed for 202 yards and one landing and ran for 71 yards and two touchdowns against Legacy. He’s acquired 16 landing passes this season.
